How Do We Find Remote Jobs Abroad with Freelance Projects?

Hello everyone.

Since 2018, I have interviewed many candidates for IT positions in our country, USA, Qatar, Balkan Countries, Ukraine, Netherlands and Sweden.

I conducted some of these interviews as a Recruitment Manager, some of them as a freelance recruitment consultant. During these interviews, I had the opportunity to interview hundreds of Turkish candidates, as well as many candidates from India, Arab Countries, Ukraine, Russia, Malaysia, Spain.

I had the opportunity to examine and compare the CVs, cover letters, portfolios, G?thub profiles, Behance accounts of these candidates.

In our country, it is not easy to find a job after graduation or bootcamp, both as an internship and as an entry-level software developer. While candidates are looking for experience even in internship applications, entry-level software developer candidates also have difficulty finding a job.

One of the most important difficulties here is that these candidates are not valued enough when they show their work for freelance projects.

It may sound surprising, but this is not the case in European countries (Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Germany, England).

While candidates who have gained experience in software with freelance projects are not preferred in our country, they can be seen attractive abroad. In our country, recruiters or technical units do not even look at the Github or Behance profiles of jr candidates... However, the recruiters of these countries are already chasing candidates on these channels.

In the last few years, I have seen a concern about looking for a job in European countries in jr level software developer interviews in our country or in the people I coach. Since office work is mostly compulsory in interviews or initial evaluation in our country, work that is not done in an office environment is not valued.

Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland and Poland stand out at this point. Again, it should be clearly stated that these software candidates who constantly receive negative feedback do not even look at these advertisements abroad...He/She constantly states to work abroad or to work remotely, but does not take a step.

So how should these candidates start the process?

In 2024, the algorithm processes were updated (I will write this separately) how much does your profile support this? Is your profile visible enough in 2024?

Profile in English :

Do your Linkedin, Behance, Medium, Github profiles have English descriptions and English cv?

ATS Friendly CV :

When a profile is discovered in these countries, it is directed to ATS programmes and is subject to a percentage scoring. In most cases, candidates with a score below 75% are not sought.

Is your CV suitable for the countries you want to look for a job? Does it contain healthy keywords for the technologies you use?

Or did you just express it by saying UI/UX Designer, Fullstack Developer?

Portals:

We also discover candidates from freelance sites. Do you have a CV in English on these sites where you do business? Each title is important in itself. In my next article, I will first explain the 2024 algorithm.

I hope it is a useful article.
