How do we face the world's biggest challenges? In conversation with author Nina Montgomery

When Nina Mongomery was 25 the company she worked for shut down. She lost her job. Unemployed and studying for her PhD, Nina realised she had an opportunity. Thanks to her PhD work on business and society, she had reached out to countless leaders via LinkedIn, and many of them responded.

She realised she had gathered enough wisdom for a book – two books, in fact!

Perspectives on Purpose and Perspectives on Impact.

Over the last year, Nina, a doctoral student and IDEO designer, brought together 20 leading voices from across sectors to reflect on two BIG questions:

Q.1: Climate change. Global poverty. Social Injustice. How on earth do we mitigate, let alone solve, daunting challenges like these facing our world?

Q.2: What does it actually look like to build a more human-centered and socially-aware future for business?

I was so lucky to have time with Nina via Skype. You can listen to our discussion here:

Thanks Leena Nair for delivering a very powerful message on moving away from formal hierarchy to seeing who can influence and impact the world within the organisation. As a junior HR professional and a millenial I've realised more than before that it's about making a sustainable impact instead of a tick-box exercise. Hopefully, more companies will encourage and take onboard the ideas from their junior professionals to start making an impact in their internal community. It's great to follow a leader like yourself :)

Thanks so much Leena Nair and Nina Montgomery for most inspiring and thoughtful session. I love and totally agree with necessity of an underlying systemic approach necessary for creating true impact. Hope the word will spread and people and companies will dare to fundamentally rethink their businesses and not only add a new branding device to their portfolio.
