How Do Successful Entrepreneurs Stay Inspired to Innovate and Create?

Back in high school in New Orleans, I was a part of an exclusive creative writing class... the kind you have to apply to get in.

The kind where teachers are called professors.??

And I recall one time I had really lived it up in the French Quarter until about 5am.

(Being a bad kid, basically)?

But when I got home, I remembered I had a short story due that Monday.?

So I sat at the desk in my room and wrote ALL day and ALL night.?

And when I turned in my story that Monday... then promptly fell asleep, my professor was livid...

Marisa, it’s clear you're not taking this program seriously. So, I want you to go sit in the closet until you get your head out of your a** and if this is NOT the best short story you’ve ever written, you’re out of this program.

He escorted me to the closet, where I spent a tense 30 minutes...?

Until he opened the door and said...

Marisa...

[Pause so long I could hear the paint peeling] This is the best freaking story you’ve ever written.?

That story went on to win numerous awards (it was called Bangkok).??

Since then, I’ve been capable of long stretches of creativity (which has been essential to growing and scaling my business!)...

But -- like most things that are worth it... it hasn’t been easy...

There have been times I’ve felt stuck, unmotivated or simply out of fresh ideas (relatable, right!?!)...

Luckily, I’ve discovered -- after 12+ years in business -- how to keep the creative fire burning...

The good news??

IT’S NOT about working harder or longer...
