Scrum Values are Commitment, Focus, Openness, Courage, and Respect. I am going to discuss how Scrum Events support each Scrum Value.
How do Scrum Events support Focus?
Each Scrum Event provides an opportunity to focus on inspecting and adapting specific artifacts. In addition, their timebox promotes a sense of urgency and enhances focus on their purpose.
How do Scrum Events support Commitment?
Delivering an increment at the end of the Sprint promotes a commitment to quality and continuous improvement. Daily Scrum is an opportunity for Developers to demonstrate their commitment to each other. Sprint Review is an opportunity to show their commitment to receive feedback about the outcome of the sprint from the stakeholders. Sprint Retrospective is an opportunity to prove their commitment to continuous improvement as a team.
How do Scrum Events support Openness?
Sprints are limited to one month or less. It promotes an openness to adapting based on latest information. Daily Scrum promotes an openness to changing the plan for meeting the Sprint Goal. Sprint Review promotes an openness to sharing progress with stakeholders and receiving feedback from them. Sprint Retrospective promotes an openness to feedback, reflection, and changing how the Scrum Team works.
How do Scrum Events support Courage?
Each Scrum Event is an opportunity to inspect and adapt. It has a built-in assumption that it is okay to change direction. This enables courage.
How do Scrum Events support Respect?
Respect: The whole Scrum Team attends the Sprint Planning, the Sprint Review, and the Sprint Retrospective. It promotes respect for roles, accountabilities, and diverse perspectives. When the Scrum Team reviews only an increment which meets the Definition of Done, they make their true progress transparent. In this way, they show respect for their stakeholders.

1 年Thank you Pedram jan for your great post ?? In the Scrum Guide, they used another order on values: "Commitment, Focus, Openness, Respect, and Courage". It seems the last one (I mean "Courage") is a complementary value too which means although we need to bring these values to our minds and attitudes we need to be courageous enough to keep the other values safe in facing problems. what is your idea on this?
