Kantor is a currency exchange service in Poland, involving the exchange of foreign currencies to zloty and vice versa, and sometimes between currencies of other countries. The activity must be registered in the currency exchange activity register under the supervision of the National Bank of Poland, which usually takes up to 1 month.

Who Can Open a Kantor?

An individual or legal entity with no offenses for financial gain or in the tax sphere.

Business Requirements:

• Accounting: Keeping records of all transactions that change the state of currency value.
• Continuity of Operations: Continuous buying and selling of currency values during business hours.
• Proof of Purchase and Sale: Issuing documents for each transaction.
• Premises and Equipment: Compliance with technical and organizational conditions. The name “exchange office,” address, days, and hours of operation must be prominently displayed. An information board with the list of currencies and current exchange rates.

Documents for the License:

1. Applications: confirming the data accuracy; confirming compliance with the conditions for exchange office activity; confirming the absence of a criminal record.
2. Documents confirming qualifications according to the Foreign Exchange Act of July 27, 2002.
3. Stamp duty for registration.
4. Declaration of compliance with educational and criminal record requirements for cashiers. Proof of no criminal record for the company director, cashier, and a document on the professional training of the cashier.
