For those of you that have been professionals either as service providers or recepients, my thoughts on how organisations operate may not be anything new. Over my next few articles, I'll try to interlink topics to make real world examples to make business sense that each one of us could relate to. That way, I'll be quenching my knowledge quest, sharing my experience and hopefully inspire your inquisitiveness!
Organizations operate through a sophisticated interplay of components such as structure, strategy, processes, culture, resources, environment, technology, performance measurement, adaptability, stakeholder engagement, and change management. Each element plays a critical role in achieving organizational goals and navigating challenges effectively to acheive collective outcome, which for large enterprises is measured through shareholder value.
Tech product companies, in particular, operate with a strong emphasis on innovation, agility, and user-centric design. They leverage cutting-edge technologies, agile processes, and a collaborative culture to rapidly develop, test, and iterate on their products to meet market demands and stay competitive.
I'm so excited that I chose this subject, as it has already triggered a million questions in my mind and hundred different topics that I can elaborate on. For example, we can elaborate on role of each function to acheive organisational effectiveness, barriers to overcome, best practices, how do organisations differ in different sectors, how do we acheive shareholder value, the list goes on...
Let me take a step back - with an Engineering background, an MBA post-graduate and experienced technology professional creating an impact on a wide Customer and Partner eco-system, my mastering complexity skills are kicking in!!!
Simplistic as it sounds, but if there is such a clear theory on how organisations should operate, let me pick up my next topic - analyse two companies and examine how they are operating!
