Something cool happened for this leader as he prepared for this "tough conversation". He realized that being clear on his Personal Brand actually helped him to prepare for and then navigate the conversation in a calm way...

Because he's clear on his Personal Brand, he knows how he wants to show up for these challenging moments.?

He was literally less stressed and more prepared for the possible outcomes of the tough conversation.

As he recounted the experience, he was smiling and so pleased with himself for being able to leverage his Personal Brand at a pivotal moment for an important Direct report.

News Flash

If your boss who promoted you into leadership, or an HR representative at the company, didn't explain to you that having tough conversations was part of the job, then shame on them.?

Here's the News Flash: As a leader, you're going to have tough conversations. If you don't want to have tough conversations anymore, then ask to be demoted to an individual contributor. (Wha- whattt?)

But, you're smart.?You know that as a leader tough conversations are going to happen... right?! You're not sticking your head in the sand hoping to never have a difficult conversation with one of your direct reports.

Right??

All joking aside, knowing your Personal Brand when you're in leadership role is going give you more direction and insights on how you want to show up for tough conversations.?

I love that all of my clients have had successful outcomes to tough conversations, not just this one leader. While you don't need to know the exact outcome details for this tricky conversation with his direct report, what I do want you to to know is that he was calmly prepared to navigate the difficult conversation... All of this success came because he is clear on his Personal Brand.?

You can have that kind of success with your "tough conversations" too.?
