How Do I Get the Permanent Hospital Based and General Practitioner Jobs I Want?

How Do I Get the Permanent Hospital Based and General Practitioner Jobs I Want?

After speaking to tens of thousands of doctors over the last ten years, there’s a common theme that crops up with almost every conversation we have; that most doctors don’t realise that not only do medical recruitment agencies provide locum work for doctors, they also have a significant number of permanent hospital based and general practitioner (GP) jobs to offer too.

Yet the interesting thing is that finding a permanent role is one of the most critical things we do for doctors, therefore this blog has been written to help open up the conversations you have with your recruitment consultant.

MedRecruit’s mission is to help doctor’s live exceptional lives and for the majority of us most of our time is spent in permanent jobs, often with some locuming intermittently. So it is absolutely vital that we can help doctors get the best permanent roles they can get.

The role has to deliver what the doctor is looking for in terms of career satisfaction, lifestyle outside of work and from a financial perspective. So before you look at potential permanent jobs the first thing you need to get super clear on what it is you want in these areas.

MedRecruit surveyed doctors and found that 60% of them rely on their own networks to find job opportunities. We agree you should definitely do this but you also need to think bigger. Agencies have spent years building their own relationships with hospitals and clinics and these can be used alongside your own to give you a much wider range of options.

You also need to pick an agency you trust, that stands for what you stand for, because you don’t just need a wide range of opportunities but a depth of relationships to leverage those opportunities.

So if you are looking for permanent hospital based doctor or GP jobs in Australia or New Zealand you need to;

  1. Get clear on what you want
  2. Leverage your own relationships
  3. Pick an agency that you trust with a wide range of opportunities

If you want to find out more about how to give yourself an advantage to get the permanent doctor or GP job you want, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team of experts today and have a conversation about finding your perfect permanent role.
