Happy Monday.
One of the most common questions clients ask me is:
"How do I get buy-in from my team?"
Leaders who get things done, have projects approved and catalyze successful change know that having the support of others is key. Whether it's updating your performance review process, activating new sales software or establishing team behaviours, fostering commitment from the people these initiatives will impact is the foundation for effective implementation.
Here's your leadership behaviour, action and coaching question ...
Leadership Behaviour
To what extent do I: Actively seek buy-in from others.

Taking Action
The simplest way to get buy-in from others for a new initiative is to bring them along throughout the process.
Here are 7 steps you can take to ensure the success of your next project.
1. Make a list of all the people who will be impacted by the new initiative.
2. Determine what level of influence they will have on the success of the project.
3. Ascertain whether you need them to advocate, adopt or be aware of the project.
4. For those who you want to advocate or adopt the project, present a loose vision of your idea and ask for input on how they see it coming to fruition (include them in the process of creation).
5. Take people's input and fine-tune your ideas and present them back for further discussion and tweaking.
6. Repeat until there is group consensus.
7. Once there is buy-in from your priority audiences then you can start communicating outcomes to audiences that only need to be aware of the project.
Using this approach will not only help you get projects up and running, it will also help reduce your stress as you can share the workload and access the wisdom of others.
Coaching Question:
What stops me from seeking buy-in for my projects, ideas or initiatives?
