Time to get practical. It is all very well and good to suggest connection - but where do I start?
It is important to start by stating: connection is more than just one person's role or a note on an annual plan; it is a whole-school concern, from the classroom to the boardroom, the sports fields to the front gate.
In schools, building meaningful connections involves creating authentic partnerships between students, parents, and teachers. Establishing these connections is not only essential for fostering a supportive learning environment but also for ensuring the holistic development of students.

Building sustainable connections in a school setting requires intentional efforts from all community members. By fostering open communication, creating inclusive events, promoting collaborative learning environments, supporting teacher-parent partnerships, nurturing a positive school culture, and leveraging technology, schools can establish a foundation of strong, meaningful connections.
These partnerships are essential for creating a supportive and thriving educational environment, ultimately leading to the success and well-being of students.
As we finish this issue, here is a final thought from my book:
"You [should be] trying to create an environment that grabs every student that walks through your gate for eternity. They should leave feeling like they could always come back. Create a safe place for them and they just might."
