How do I build relationships on LinkedIn that lead to sales: I will show you in five steps

Over the years, technology has grown exponentially, granting people with new and innovative ways to connect. For example, millions of people connect daily on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

People use different platforms because they have various needs. Nowadays, there are many social media platforms, such as Twitter, which is both formal and informal; Instagram, which is more visual, and people can easily share their emotions through captions; Facebook, which helps you to stay connected with friends and family (and it can also benefit your business, too). Yet, there’s one platform that offers a more occupational environment: LinkedIn. What can you do on LinkedIn? Build connections and develop professional relations with like-minded individuals!

If you want to get the best out of your LinkedIn experience, first, you have to set your goals, and then you must develop practical connections. You may find it difficult to develop innovate relationships, but it’s so much better to have many relations even if they have no benefit whatsoever. Why? You never know when your connections will benefit you and your business in the future.

How can you build connections? Let’s take a look at these five important steps!

1- Rearrangement of your contacts

Just glance at your contact list. Do you remember all of them? If the answer is no, you may want to consider two things:

- Do they still remember you? Do they care about you?

- What about you? Do you still know things about them?

If you don’t remember them, you may find it difficult to reconnect. If you find yourself in this position, separate the contacts from those who encompass a powerful, positive story that connects with you from those that don’t. Connect with the clients you remember, and try to rebuild any forgotten, but important relationships.

It’s essential to note that more connections may elevate your chances of encountering success. Be strong and never give up.

2- Be professional and let new people get to know you

Sometimes on LinkedIn, you will see a notification informing you that somebody wants to connect with you. At first, you may think that you barely know them, so you ignore the request, but they may encompass traits that can help to improve your business.

When you respond, try to be professional. He or she maybe someone you met before or an old friend that you can’t seem to place. Do not let your chances of making a new and powerful connection go to waste!

I believe that it’s essential to accept all requests. Why? When you have more connections, your chances increase of finding more like-minded individuals. You can seek advice from your connections, discover partnerships, and find potential clients.

3- Use direct messages to retain lost friendships

If you want to amass more connections on LinkedIn, it can help to message old friends. When you message them, compose short and concise notes. Long messages may deter them from responding. It’s vital to maintain your relationships, so you can ensure that you have as many connections as possible.

If they don’t respond within a month, you can stop putting energy and effort into that relationship, and instead focus on forming connections with others who can help to build and grow your empire! The extraneous contacts only fuel the false sense of connection, and they may have anxiety associated with social overload.

How can you avoid social overload? First things first: categorize your list of connections. You can segment your contacts via Customer Relation Management (CRM).

Why is this important? Well, it enables you to analyze your current customer relations. Who is supporting your business? Who is not? The data helps to highlight the type of people who help to improve your business, and which groups may waste your time and energy. You may separate your connections into the following categories: close friends, family members, partners, classmates, buyers, sellers, clients, and ET.

Try to send a relevant message to each person;  a clever message can help to pave your way back into the forefront of your connections’ minds. Here is a useful example:

Subject Line: What’s up with you, old friend? I miss you a lot.

Hello There,

I saw you in here and remembered our friendship in high school. What’s up, man? How are you? What are you doing right now?

4- Create new and innovative groups and invite relevant people

Find the proper subject and then create a group. In that group, you can add relevant people who share common goals. If you want your group to stay on topic and discuss subjects related to your goals, it’s essential to only include a few members rather than create a massive group!

While it’s great to have a significant number of connections, it can be tough to stay on topic when the members within the group don’t work in your field of interest.

5- Install LinkedIn on your phone immediately

In past decades, we used business cards to stay in touch with other people. But nowadays, thanks to technology, they are not as relevant. Technology helps us to connect with each other in a fast and efficient way. For example, social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook now play an integral role when it comes to running a business.

If you own a business, want to build connections, or want to find the perfect employer, I highly suggest signing up for LinkedIn and installing it on your phone.

Once you have LinkedIn, you will be able to chat with your clients efficiently and professionally, find new clients, and work on propelling your business forward. You can also use it as a way to stay connected with friends! Feel free to invite long last pals to connect with you via LinkedIn. Plus, that connection may benefit you further down the road.

Also, always think about how you’d act in person, how you (actually) speak to people, or how you might help them during a conversation, and then add that to your LinkedIn profile.

Conclusion

Sometimes you may ask yourself: is it even worth it to spend time on LinkedIn?

The answer is yes! LinkedIn is a very strong platform that is totally worth investing your time in. On LinkedIn, you can build connections with long lost friends or new people, and these connections may benefit you and your business in the future if you now the game of building online relationships.
