How Do I Become a Digital Marketer?

How Do I Become a Digital Marketer?

In digital marketing, there is a huge deficiency in the number of people who truly understand the various aspects of digital marketing. As a recruiter, I've seen this on several occasions. This is why it is important to understand what makes one a digital marketer.

Note that when you look at people's resumes and profiles, you see digital marketing but they can't deliver an ad copy, analyse business progress, drive the right organic or paid traffic or even target the right audience using Facebook ads yet they call themselves digital marketers.

For recruiters who understand what they're looking for, it makes them wonder who your teacher is, the kind of training he gave you and if he's actually looking at what you're doing.

This is why you see companies with a team of digital marketers yet such businesses cannot be found on search engines and gain zero conversion from search engines.

Truth is that digital marketing is very broad but it's not entirely impossible to master several essential aspects.

Digital marketing is still one of the most employable skills to learn today.

For business owners, the most important things to them include increasing their sales, retaining new customers, getting new and converting leads, increasing their website conversions, analysing their website and business performances, growing their brand, etc.

So when you look at this it tells you that they're interested in making more money and growing their influence.

There are various aspects of digital marketing but what should I focus on that will make me relevant in the industry? Ever asked this question?

So here is the deal.

In digital marketing, analysis has shown that every business is interested in making money - both long term and short term with the smallest investment possible.

What this means is that they simply want more sales or conversion.

So the question now is what do I need to learn in digital marketing that will set me out for success?

Here is the answer.

A) Search engine optimisation (SEO)

Businesses are interested in long term free conversions more than anything else.

To become an SEO expert there are few things you need to master: Google analytics, search console, content writing and optimisation, landing conversion optimisation, competition research, on-page SEO, technical SEO, link building and more.

Looking at the last paragraph, what does it tell you?

There is so much to learn, focus and learn while you still can.

Don't become an expert that only knows how to say without knowing how to execute.

B) Pay Per Click (PPC)

For businesses with huge budgets, this is usually their preferred strategy. It involves buying traffic through ads such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google ads. There are many others.

There is always the problem of conversion and to solve this, you have to master conversion optimization.

C) Technical group

This aspect includes technical SEO implementation, graphics, Chatbots, WordPress, coding and more. Sometimes they are not directly categorized as digital marketers but they form an essential part of every digital marketing team or agency.

D) Content marketing, Social media and email marketing

This is the most popular choice for many because it is less technical than the rest.

So when you consider digital marketing, understand the various aspects and choose a part that's clear enough for you.

It is important to also state that it is not impossible to learn them all.
