How do entry level/trainee developers find work?
One of the sectors we work in here at Stonebridge Careers Training is Web Development. With around 18 million developers based all over the world, this is clearly a popular sector of choice for many individuals!
Understandably, developers with huge amounts of experience can demand larger salaries and to be able to pick and choose the type of role that they want to go for - be it full/part time or on some occasions, even consultancy work.
I am looking to understand how these developers managed to gain themselves their first role.
What did they do?
Who did they speak to?
Who took them on?
As a careers provider, we aim to support our individuals into a suitable position of work once they've qualified, however many of the IT companies/recruiters that I speak to, simply aren't willing to speak with our students as they're 'under qualified' or 'don't have enough experience'. The difficulty we have here is that all of these individuals are wanting to make a positive impact on their own lives as well as others. They are looking for that foot in the door in order to be able to start in the industry that they have dreamed of!
I'm looking to speak to companies/individuals who think they can help our students into work, without them being dismissed for various reasons.
What if one opportunity could change their life?
