How to disrupt ISIS/ISIL
Someone reminded me of this. We did this to some degree during the Viet Nam war.
There was a news story about a supply drop that landed off target and ISIS got the supplies intended for our allies. Additionally ISIS has captured quite a bit of hardware we gave to Iraq.
We need to be able to take advantage of these events. Here's how: All vehicles sent to Iraq should have a GPS transmitter on board that can be triggered via satellite (or drone) to display its position. This way we know where the friendlies are and where ISIS is mustering vehicles or traveling in caravans etc. It may also be possible to send a signal to vehicles traveling in isolated areas to cause the vehicle to break down, fry the ignition system etc.
Part two, when we "accidentally" mis-drop supplies and ammunition, it should have special "features". Small arms ammunition will be a mix of a few regular rounds, but there should be many magazines loaded with a light round, followed by some really hot rounds. The light round is designed to leave the bullet in the barrel. The next, hot round will explode the weapon, taking out the shooter and the weapon.
We could do the same with ammunition for heavier weapons, or rig the projectiles to have a tendency to make a large circle and land close to where they started. This should be a "feature" of all RPG ammo we drop. Hand grenades would have very short fuses or be duds.
Foodstuffs should be laced with LSD and/or a strong dose of a diarrhea causing agent. We could also add a strong (over) dose of Viagra. This would make "hitting the dirt" quite an adventure.
We should deploy drones that can jam, disrupt or inject computer viruses into the computers ISIS is using.
Excellent ideas. But what if our allies get the stuff. Do we have personnel embedded in each group for which we drop stuff to distinguish the good and useful from the toxic or terminal?

When your enemies play dirty, it's time to play dirty back. Good ideas.
