Happy Self-nurturing Saturday! As much as I love talking about you experiencing pleasure. Let's talk about what you are actually experiencing now...displeasure! If I may use myself as an example, I am writing to share how I have experienced displeasure in my body.
?
You may see me as energetic and vibrant but in the recent past I have had a few health challenges. Life experiences really weigh on the body and the body keeps score of every interaction you have.?
?
Think about that for a moment. ????
?
How does your body feel today? What have you experienced this week?
?
We don’t often take the time to connect those dots. And even though I encourage others to self-nurture, I have dismissed so major alarms ? that my body was sending me.?
?
Two years ago, I struggled with swollen breasts and discovered I had cysts. I also had achy joints, mostly my knees, hips and sometimes elbows. I sometimes would get confused or have brain fog and had emotional outbursts. No matter the season, I was always cold and sometimes also had night sweats.?
?
And I was freshly ending a very contentious multi-decade marriage and stumbling through an even more contentious divorce. Even with the “best” self-care practices in place my body was catching up to all the years of dysfunction and coping with grief.?
?
?? Achy joints yes are a sign of rheumatism AND energetically a sign of years of resentment, frustration, and anger.?
?? Cystic fibrosis is also a result of anger and abandonment.?
????♀?Brain fog is a result of mineral deficiency AND grief.?

??Emotional outburst are a sign of confusion around how to ask for help.?
??Being cold is a sign of fear and heat is a sign of rage resulting from not having help, protection and feeling safe in your body.?

Some of you may read this and dismiss it as perimenopause. And yes it is that AND that is what perimenopause is.?
?
Years of your body acknowledging your lived experiences and mitigating your demise by screaming enough is enough.?
?
Today, I am clear minded or can easily reset before the point of emotional burst. I have predictable sensation in my body meaning appropriately cold or hot and hunger cues are working. My menstrual cycle has also returned to a regular interval. I can dance and go all the way to the ground again as my knees no longer give out and I have stamina for any physical activity I desire.
?
What am I doing differently? How have I enhanced my self-nurturing practices?

It can take time to make the adjustment, as you can question yourself worth?
