How Disney’s International Theme Parks are Creating Magic Around the World

I am so proud of, and grateful to, all our Cast, Imagineers, and employees, who work relentlessly during extremely challenging times to deliver great new offerings to our guests. It demonstrates the resiliency Disney is known for and conveys our confidence in our ability to recover and invest in our future.

Today, I’d like to focus on the great work our international Cast at resorts in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Paris have been doing throughout the pandemic to ensure your next visit will be more special than ever before as travels restrictions ease and we can welcome guests from around the world.

The Cast at Shanghai Disney Resort continues its 5th anniversary celebration with a “Year of Magical Surprises,” delivering new festivities, entertainment, and more with each season. Our guests absolutely adore our new nighttime spectacular “ILLUMINATE! A Nighttime Celebration” and the new Broadway-caliber theatrical show “Mickey’s Storybook Adventure.” All this while work continues on the highly-anticipated new land themed to the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic, Zootopia.

At Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, our team, recently concluded their 15th anniversary celebration where they introduced their newly-transformed Castle of Magical Dreams last November. Our Walt Disney Imagineers outdid themselves once again and the castle now stands as a striking beacon of courage, hope, and possibility at the center of the park. With this gorgeous castle as the backdrop, our Hong Kong team also debuted the all-new castle show “Follow Your Dreams” on June 30 and we are thrilled to share that a brand new nighttime spectacular will be debuting in 2022.

Over at Tokyo Disneyland, several exciting new attractions, restaurants, and shops opened late last year, marking the largest expansion of the park’s 38-year history. A new area opened in Fantasyland at Tokyo Disneyland, featuring Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast, The Happy Ride with Baymax, and Minnie’s Style Studio. We also kicked off the celebration of Tokyo Disney Sea’s 20th anniversary on Sept. 4. The resort is currently hard at work on a new Toy Story Hotel, opening in April 2022, and Fantasy Springs, its eighth themed port of call which opens in about two years.?

In Europe, Disneyland Paris continues to transform the guest experience with new immersive attractions and shows, and even more on the horizon. These include the new Cars ROAD TRIP and Disney Junior Dream Factory, which has immediately become the new love of both parents and children, and the return of a fan-favorite show, The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands. Looking to the future, Walt Disney Studios Park continues a transformation that will add three new themed areas, starting with Avengers Campus which opens next year.

Speaking of Marvel, I had the pleasure of staying at the recently opened Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel in June, which was absolutely fantastic! Meanwhile, Disneyland Hotel is undergoing a complete refurbishment to become the first hotel that celebrates a royal theme. This is the next step in an ambitious multi-year plan to renovate every Disneyland Paris hotel – more than 5,700 rooms – and take the hotel experience to new heights.
