How to dilute defoamer? and whether defoamer could be dilute or not? when and how?

The method of dilute defoamer:
1- Prepare alkali swelling thickener
1. Preparation of thickened water:
Add alkali-saturated thickener into water, adjust the pH of the thickener aqueous solution to 6.8-7.2 by 10% NaoH solution (Generally speaking, the amount of NaOH solution can be added according to 40% of the weight of the thickener).
Note: that when the aqueous solution gradually changes from light milky white, the viscosity also increases. So note that NaOH solution must be added very slowly;
Finally add the fungicide, carcass (note that the cardin is an acidic substance, can’t directly contact the alkali, PH of the thickened water should be less than 7.5, otherwise the carcass wouldn’t work),
Bit bactericide: (the bactericide is an alkaline bactericide, can’t directly contact with the carcass). The amount of thickener is related to the final dilution ratio. Generally, the viscosity of the final product is 200~1000.
3. Other dilution ratios and so on:
Note:
1. Under this method, the concentration of the thickener is 3%. If you feel the viscosity of the final product is low, increase the thickener concentration (eg increase to 3.5%, 4% or higher) and vice versa. However, it should not be less than 2%, and it should not be diluted directly with water. Otherwise, the diluted defoamer is unstable, and it is easy to stratify, demulsifie and float.
2. When mixing with stirring, the stirring speed should not be too fast. It is recommended that the rotation speed should not exceed 40 revolutions per minute. Generally, can take sample for 2 minutes stirring to observe whether there are obvious sticks and avoid stirring for a long time.
Note on defoamers:
During processing of using defoamer, you must be curious to whether defoamer can be diluted with water or not? Whether can be used after diluted?
Defects that dilute defoamer with water directely:
(1) Poor stability.
Consistent that defoamer dilution ratio can’t be guarantee, so it would lead to defoamer stability get worse
(2) Easy to stratify. The water would breaks the viscosity system of the defoamer, so it will cause delamination, making the defoamer look uneven and even appear white floating.
(3) The defoaming performance is deteriorated. The antifoaming agent added with water will obviously reduce the effective content, which is the so-called solid content is seriously affected, then in such a low solid content, the defoaming performance will be greatly reduced.
Then when defoamer should be diluted?
Based on above we talked about the shortcomings of using water to dilute defoamer, then is it not possible to dilute defoamer with water? No!! In some cases, it can be directly dilute with water. If you are an end customer and use it on the production, you can consider using water directly to dilute it. This will not cause too much impact on production. But should note: it is necessary to ensure that should use on the same day.
Then when defoamer shouldn’t be diluted
If you are not an end customer, we do not recommend that you dilute with water, as it will cause a series of defects and the storage of the product will be affected. Especially If it is kept for a long time, it will deteriorate. Finally, even production will be affected.
In summary, during the processing of using defoamer, we must know the defects of dilute with water, when can be diluted and when can’t be diluted, so that can help us to save cost at the maximum extent.
