It has become more significant to understand the effect of digital technology and arts.
In today's world a lot is changing, and Digital is ubiquitous in society today. The impact of digital technology on people's behavior, working methods and organizational models is enormous.
This development has also a major impact on the entire museum practice. That is why we cannot emphasize enough the necessity and urgency of a digital strategy.
The combination of the infinite digital possibilities and human creativity makes the future of art extremely interesting.
Art as knowledge of the past
Art can teach us about history, historical events, culture, countries, habits, attitudes, decoding symbolism, etc.
It can help us to understand our past, to comprehend people who lived in another time and place, to discover other cultures. Art helps us view how important religion was to the lives of people.
This through visual means but also by other existing art forms such as film, literature and music.
Culture is at the heart of the social processes in which people express and challenge ethical, aesthetic and political meanings and values.
With digital technologies we can preserve our past and explore more in-depth details.
The challenge of museums
The public is still not enough finding its way to museums. After the pandemic, museums are open again but not all of them are able to attract visitors
Small museums in particular are having a hard time: they have had few visitors since the corona crisis, or they are unable to find volunteers. And those small museums are less known than their big players whilst worth a discovery because they are hidden treasures.
Furthermore, most of the museums are located in wonderful (ancient) buildings with high ceilings which is energy costly. It involves also climate-controlled storage, security, etc. which increases the ticket prices.

Connecting art and technology helping people to enjoy art
One of the main goals within museums is to create awareness and educate visitors through, for example, exhibitions and experiences. The art is to listen to the needs of people.
This is one of the reasons why museums pay extra attention to making their educational experiences fun, enjoyable and impressive. They do this primarily by integrating technologies that enable more immersive and interactive museum experiences.
It also encourages the visitor to take action, rather than just passively observing by default.
In the future, museums will no longer showcase a story, but visitors will become a part of it.
Making artworks and cultural products accessible from any society for digital media users. Digital communication offers important opportunities for target audiences in reaching arts and cultural contents without time and place restrictions.
Target audiences from all over the world appreciating having access to these features.
As for entrepreneurs, it's also important for museums to target their audience at the right time with the right message and to know their needs.
However, this is only possible by collecting customer data and being in possession of automated and data-driven systems. For example: by choosing direct online ticket sales without resellers.

2 年This opens the services of museums to whole new client / visitor segments: people who can't visit a museum due to its location, people across language barriers, people who don't typically visit museums or think they are "for them". 2 年I still remember visiting Alcatraz back in 2002. We got headphones during the tour and at each place we visited, we heard sounds as if the prison was still full and active. It definitely made an impression! I see a great future where VR and reality come together, for instance see how art was created in VR, bringing paintings to live, etc.....
