I ran across this article and infographic this morning on the 5 trends shaping the digital travel customer experience. Some highlights that jumped out at me were:
- 32% of travelers prefer to book on a destinations website
- 49% say that travel review sites are the most useful when researching a trip
- 64% refer to travel sites like Trip Advisor for inspiration
- 25% of all US travel will be booked via smartphones in 2015 (PhoCusWright Survey)
Some key takeaways for me, especially for destination marketers:
- Great opportunity for destinations (tourism boards, CVB's, etc.) to get people directly to their websites and actually book their vacations, however you must ensure that you have compelling messaging and storytelling - you are the authority.
- A definite focus on sites such as Trip Advisor as it relates to content, as well as encouraging and incentivizing our past visitors to provide glowing reviews will be important
Tell me what you think? Enjoy!

9 年Thanks for sharing Georgianne. I thought you might be interested in this interactive infographic we created for Google on the 5 stages of travel. Once you open the infographic, you can click on the icon for each stage to see a relevant high-level statistic, and then if you click on the little magnifying glass below the stat, you get a deeper dive into that particular stage. https://www.propointgraphics.com/work/google-interactive-infographic/
