It is not difficult to get your real estate license, however, the difficulty lies in keeping yourself motivated after you obtain your real estate license and are just starting out. It takes time to ramp up and gain the trust of clients.
But here are the next steps to obtaining your real estate license.
- Find a program, take and pass your courses. Programs will differ depending on the state you reside in. If you reside in California I recommend Shane at Revei Real Estate. [1]Tell Shane I sent you! Salesperson License Link[2]
- Once you pass your online courses you will submit an application to take the state exam. The exam will be in person (at least it is in CA).
- DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! The exam is about memorizing the correct answers. I highly recommend taking a 2 day crash course that aids in helping you recall the correct answers. Some of the questions will be half right as the exam will try and trick you. Don’t waste time failing the first state exam by a point or two because you think you were prepared. I have seen this happen. I had a friend drive up from LA to the Bay Area (6 hours) to stay with us the day before his test. The next morning he drove (1.5 hours) to Sacramento to take the exam and just missed passing by 3 points! He thought he had it nailed. He did not take the crash course.
- With the state of affairs at the current time due to COVID it may take weeks even months to get your test date, so in the meantime you can prepare for your future in real estate. Begin with a simple Google spreadsheet and add everyone you know from the past or present including friends, family members, acquaintances, work colleagues then type out each name, address, phone number and email address. (More on that after you pass your courses.)
Good luck and let me know if you need further guidance.
