How to die, knowing I lived well?

The final destination - Death.

The life which is expressed by this body and mind, will be going to stop expression one day. When will I die, no one can answer that question. At any time. At any moment. The life will continue, but in an unexpressed way.

Irrespective of billions in my bank accounts, beautiful body or power or status, I am going to die one day. At that moment of death, nothing will be useful to me, except, genuine sense of fulfilment that, "I lived well".

Genuine satisfaction at the time of death will depend on three answers, according to me-

1. Did I perform my duties, by giving 'my' best?

This is easy. Giving 100% towards the duties is not only a source of efficiency but also of prosperity and sense of achievement. Excellence in every action, helps me to raise bar of my own benchmark and boosts my confidence to the next level. It will help me to keep my focus on the process than result, on the journey than destination, enjoy the struggle than craving for goals. This habit of performing at my best, can help me to utilise my potential and express my inner faculties to my maximum. This can be achieved by everyone, on daily basis, when we end our work schedule.

2. Did I maintain composed state of mind, even during crisis of life?

This is difficult. Ups and downs are part and parcel of the life. It's given. Ability to stay focused when time is not in favour, defines the depth and maturity of the personality. People admire those who display the courage, the patience and the optimism in the critical time. This ability to keep cool and balanced, results into better productivity and help maintain relationships.

3. Did I connect all around me, with kindheartedness?

This is most important and easy too. Living life with attitude to serve, to help, to cooperate with all around, leads to peaceful and joyful mind. Such attitude of, what can I do for you? how can I help you? leads to tremendous self development, says Swami Ranganathananda. Professional and personal life with warmheartedness; is the key to our happy and relaxed state of mind. This attitude also help leading meaningful life, help spread smiles and help dilute our ego. It can be a constant reminder that I should value relationship more than material.

If I may die tomorrow, will I have sense that - "I lived well". Let me ask this question to myself, and you ask to yourself.

Stoic values as we seek to live a purposeful good life and ultimately death is nothing to be afraid of - what's to fear but the release of fear itself.

Yes-In the present competitive world one must must perform his duties with a composed state of mind and be kind to others, if others so deserve. BUT -I feel that the question should be "WHETHER I AM I AM LIVING WELL" not "lived Well". Taking a balance sheet of life on everyday may lead to a wrong practical approach.
