How did you get here...

January 2nd, 2024. I sit in my workroom with the doors closed. I make sure I do this bright and early in the morning, so there are no distractions from other humans in my house.

Then, I open my notebook which has a stunning cover design by the way (how much I spend on a notebook depends on how quirky, cute, or premium it is. Yes, these details matter with notebooks in adulthood more than ever)

I open a fresh page, get my pen up, and start to write.

On a day like this, I am writing one thing—GOALS.

Among my copywriting business goals, I add the launch of an offer I have had in mind since late the previous year.

Come February 2024, I take small actions on this goal about the offer. I’m piecing it together section by section in my Google Docs. I work very hard at this. And this Google Docs has to be the longest I’ve ever seen or written.

Cassette fast forward to September 2024. I still haven’t launched the offer.

I feel like I’ve wasted time and missed my window… like it’s too late…and a ton of excuses and self-blame keep piling up.

But the same September I realize I got some unexpected clarity on the deliverables and the specific need in the market that I could steer this offer toward.

October 2024, present day, I am in launch mode, starting with a waitlist to confirm interest.

Here’s where this is going — read this quote by Asha Tyson -

“Your journey has molded you for your greater good, and it was exactly what it needed to be. Don’t think you’ve lost time. There is no short-cutting to life. It took every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now. And now is right on time.”

This conversation is bigger than an offer that took me ages to launch.

It’s about the perception of lost time or being late.

And the mistake of not appreciating the different events that have empowered you to be who or what you are and to do whatever it is that you do.

The same way I’ve found clarity with time with this offer is the same way you have gained clarity, preparedness, more knowledge, wisdom, and all the things throughout the time you believed was being wasted.

I recently posted on Instagram about all the small businesses I ran from my teenage years until now.

And I can see how all of that experience - which I didn’t appreciate at the time - has come to be so useful in my now as a copywriter.

It all gave me unique insights into my ideal clients and helped me approach everything from marketing to my work with EMPATHY for my clients and their clients.

Time is never truly wasted. Your journey is never as questionable as you think it is -

Think about your now -

“It took every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now. And now is right on time.”

If there’s something you’re finally prepared to do (or procrastinated long enough on) go do it. Now is the right time. You’re not too late.

Think about what the journey so far has taught or shown you. What role does it play in making your next move even bigger (especially in your business)?
