How did I develop business opportunities on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a platform that can maintain personal professional and continuously expand business opportunities. As the world's largest career professional social media, LinkedIn has different social logic and communication means compare with Facebook and Twitter.

Over the past years, I have met many industry leaders on the LinkedIn platform and obtained many possible business opportunities. Also, obtained some long-term business partners.

In this article, I would like to briefly share some of my experiences.

1.     Complete and refine your personal profile.

The completeness of personal profile will directly affect the impression and trust from your connects. Education background, work experience, personal introduction. And featured contents, must be carefully arranged. Your display photo should be different from other social media platforms that are highly personalized. On LinkedIn you should a use real, clean background photo.

2. Continue to increase number of connects

From the first time registered on LinkedIn, started from 0 connect, to 10K connects around the time this article is published.

Expanding connects is a marathon process, not a 100-meter sprint.

In the connects section of LinkedIn, you will see suggested contacts every day. As business people, we must take it seriously. First of all, don't add connects unrelated to your industry. This will cause LinkedIn not be able to accurately suggest connects to you. At the very beginning, we can add connects by searching keywords, and then clicking "People". After a period of time, more or your requests are approved, and the platform will accurately suggest relevant connects to you.

Notice: There is a limit to the daily connecting. Don't exceed the limit of connection every day;

3. Communication with connects

On LinkedIn, we must pay attention to skill and manner when communicating with connects. Social networking comes first, business is second. As long as there are enough connects and accumulation of your personality charm, business development opportunities will emerges.

When adding a connects, we must write the note carefully and tell them why we want to contact. Be modest and friendly.

When you are connected, do not send a large section of message of promotional marketing content directly. In this way, your connects may not have the patience to read, and cause them to lose the desire to communicate with you.

After connected, take the initiative to say hello. Be interactive, and conversational. Ask more questions instead of just talking about yourself and your products and services.

In addition, CTA timely is important. For example, ask your connects visit your website, endorse your skills, or follow your brand homepage, etc.

4. Regular and continuous posting

Sometimes, it's not quality is not done well, but just the quantity is not reached.

You shouldn't do several posts a day when you are willing to, then when busy, not posting for weeks. This will not precipitate your business opportunities. It would be great if you can continue to post one every day. However, we are busy with many tasks every day, which is really difficult to achieve. Therefore, it is also a good to post 3 times a week on a fixed date.

When posting , remember to use hash tags so that your content can be searched. When setting tags, focusing on relevance, not hot topics. Many tutorials tell you how to find hot tags of the day to increase your post exposure. But this will damage the reader's trust and experience in your post.

5. Sometimes, when you get business leads from other channels, you might as well come to LinkedIn, search for your prospect's profile, and connect. Communicating through LinkedIn can help to increase customers’ trust in you and your company.
