How did gamification work for me?

My story with gamification started when I joined Aspire during the first wave of the pandemic. That time everybody stayed at home because of lockdown. In the beginning, I felt a little bit lonely because I did not know anybody from the new company, and I worked alone in a small 25 square meter flat. I had onboarding, and video calls with team members, but it’s hard to build new relations and get to know everybody from a team when you work remotely.?

?

After 2nd week of work, I was surprised by the mail with information that I had received 3 points for “positive behaviour” and I need 2 more to get 2nd level in a League of Geeks. In the message, there was additional info that I had received a “Kudo” which allowed me to take a small reward like a €5 discount to a bookstore or sushi restaurant.?

?

I was curious about how it works and how to get more points and kudos. I realized that we have an internal sports club and many activities for which we can get the scores and receive next levels on leaderboards for categories like:

?

  1. Professional Development
  2. Creativity?
  3. Writing?
  4. Knowledge Sharing?
  5. Cooperation
  6. Fitness??

?

Personally, this system boosts me to reach new skills and participate more in company events and company sports clubs. I took part in football training, chess tournaments, and knowledge-sharing meetings. These activities led me to get new relations with people from other departments. Probably without that, we would not have had such an opportunity to get to know each other. I have become a big fan of this solution.?
