How to Develop Style !
How to start style Development for your Photography?
Who starting today(Photography), soon you will be told a word "won style". you need to develop it and then your work will have value. What value, I still yet to found. But No one will tell you where to look at to find that magical style? Is some exposer style? Or through subject? O, that fall under the category of a photographer! Then what is style? Have you done your exposure lesson? And now you go to the place and first play with Sutter speed and aperture? When you feel you got it, the through that at the dustbin, and go out to the place, or with a model if you are into that. Look at the viewfinder, may be back at the camera. Click it. Go home play with whatever software u like to play with. Do this for a year or two. Two things happen. You will have a portfolio that is yours. You will have your style. The clue always there. Look at the prominent photographers work to get inspired. However, if you try to be him, your identity will never have printed on the history of photography. Making style is, learn the rules and break them in a way, that no-one ever did before.
So What to Do Today for style Development?
I am not a teacher, nor a successful photographer in some aspect. But I would say, in term of working as a photographer, I am happy and enjoying to catch the moment on my digital mirror. So my suggestions based on my personal experience. It may or may not fit what kind of work you doing or want to do. But I would share some steps, you can take today if that fits.
After got the real meaning of style Development I started going back to my old photos. But you are someone taking photos, anything less than six months, I would like to say; I am sorry, this is not applicable, you batter, stop reading it and go out with your camera. Take a few more shots until that time. But if you already fall to my criteria, I would suggest, first go to the photos for the first few months of your photography. You will notice a few things.
1. You already have some photographs you loved in your past and now you do not like them anymore and some you did not even notice. Well, those made you smile.
2. So you pick as much photo you can from your past, when you started doing photography, with the intention to become one photographer.
3. Well, hope you done with that. Now you go even more back. Look for the photograph from your past. You must have some. With your phone, a point and shoot camera. Or maybe with a film camera, depending on how old you are?
4. Now add as much as from those photographs, collect it, bring it in one folder. Maybe scan if it is some old film album. Now try to edit those with your current skill. Quality Doesn’t matter as long as you use exact same work follow to edit them. Put them in the same folder All of them.
5. Wait for some time. Well, in this process, do not stop taking photographs. After a week or maybe a month, go to the photograph. Now start looking to them in Bridge, or whatever software you comfortable with. Go with the selection process. And the process should be not on the grammatically good photo, or quality of the photograph. It should have, one general quality. It makes you happy. Bring a smile to your face probably.
6. Now bring your tight selection and move it to another folder. Now go through only the selective photos. It is giving you a good feeling, isn’t it?
Congratulation, you already have a style. But do not stop there. That is not a portfolio. However, it is something you love to take. So take some more. But with time, you will develop your skill, so the photo will be not the same. However, on the list, you got an Idea about yourself.
Moreover, that is it all about. Also, it is a slow process. Anyway Now you know. Go and please, take some photo.
