Developing a high performance mindset is a great goal to have. It can help you achieve more in your personal and professional life, and overcome challenges with confidence and resilience.?According to some sources, a high performance mindset is all about how you view the world, how you communicate, and whether you can execute with precision, clarity and alignment with your core values.
Some steps you can take to develop a high performance mindset are:
- Examine your habits. Think about which habits are bringing you closer to your desired outcomes, and which ones are holding you back.?Replace the negative habits with positive ones that support your growth and well-being.
- Focus on what you can do now. Instead of dwelling on what you don’t have or can’t control, concentrate on what you have and can do.?Use your current resources and environment to work towards your goals, and be open to learning new skills and strategies along the way.
- Be clear on how you want to show up. Decide how you want to present yourself mentally and emotionally each day, and what impact you want to have on others.?Choose to be proactive, positive, energizing and focused, rather than reactive, negative, draining and distracted.
- Adopt the right thinking routines.?Train your mind to think in ways that support your performance, such as setting realistic expectations, focusing on solutions, seeking feedback, celebrating successes, and learning from failures3.
- Read the right books. There are many books that can inspire you and teach you how to develop a high performance mindset.?Some examples are Mindset by Carol Dweck, Peak Performance by Brad Stulberg and Steve Magness, Atomic Habits by James Clear, and The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg.
- Start small. Don’t overwhelm yourself with too many changes at once. Pick one or two areas that you want to improve, and break them down into manageable steps.?Then, take action every day to make progress towards your goals3.
- Find others who are doing it well. Surround yourself with people who have a high performance mindset, and learn from their experiences and advice.?You can also find mentors, coaches, or role models who can guide you and support you along your journey.
- Avoid negative thinking routines as much as you can. Negative thoughts can sabotage your performance and lower your self-esteem.?Whenever you catch yourself thinking negatively, challenge those thoughts and replace them with more positive and realistic ones.
- Make your mindset visible. Write down your goals, affirmations, values, and vision statements, and display them somewhere where you can see them often.?This will help you stay motivated and focused on your desired outcomes.
I hope this helps you develop a high performance mindset. Remember that it takes time and practice to master this skill, so be patient with yourself and celebrate every improvement you make.
