Hey, everyone! ??
Today I will show you the visual identity design process — from the visual idea development to a graphic layout design. The visual identity is an indispensable part of a brand attributes system, responsible for communication with a target audience through sight sense.
Having all the information we got on the brand platform developing stage, you can create a unique visual identity reflecting your personality. It is much easier to fill a design brief when you have a brand platform, promotion plan and message hierarchy.
The brand platform gives a graphic designer the whole picture of your brand character, what kinds of graphical layouts should be designed, and what hierarchy and accents a designer should set.
As for you, it allows you to evaluate the design results adequately, giving an objective reaction to design work. I'll show you how I created a visual identity idea for my brand. I took my values and brand character and created a mood board to choose the right visual style.
Then I tried to imagine what every part of visual identity could look like.
I added typography and photography styles to my mood board and dived into the creative process afterward.
I started experimenting with the logo, making some drafts, trying not only to find the character that would match the brand platform but also to imagine how it could be applied to various communication channels.
Finally, I went with the following option.
Well, the surname looked well-nit, as strategies that I developed. But it lacked a creative component that would contrast and bring a little creative mess into it. I thought that a calligraphy name element would be an excellent addition. So, I asked lettering and calligraphy designer?Julia Kuznetsova?to help me with that work. She designed different angled and proportioned expressive letters to show the creative part of my personality.
Depending on the size of the graphic layout, the logo can be transformed and simplified by removing serifs.

Based on the logo, I designed two alphabets — with and without serifs. The alphabet with serifs is made for large-size objects, like posters, murals, and... spaceships (lol, why not?), and the alphabet without serifs will be more useful in small formats.
Font characteristics change depending on the task and context. It allows me to use my visual identity as a flexible verbal and visual language.
I chose the letters as the central point of a flexible visual system. That allows me to create infinite combinations, patterns, and shapes by combining them in various ways.
Above, I showed you only one brand asset set connected to sight. But I will touch other feelings to create a more emotional engagement with my brand. So I will update my Holistic Brand Approach Newsletter during other brand assets development. But using the sight feeling is enough to launch a personal brand and move to a promotion stage. The following steps will be connected with experiments and hypothesis tests. You can also dive into specific communication channel algorithms to understand what specific actions you need to take.
My goal of giving you a base has been achieved. I also created a comprehensive brand guide and added some videos I shot during the process. Moreover, I uploaded all presentations on my Google Drive, so you can use them during the brand-building process to save your time. I wish you good luck from all my heart!
Stay true and stick to your unique way!
