In delivering the design thinking workshops, we are looking forward for optimistic future and what impact we can make. So, we do not considerate about the past and the history of design thinking. Except one aspect.?
We usually start with the definition of design thinking, which we simply defined?as “a Mindset and a process for creative problem solving”?easy and short, right. But we dig deep on how the name comes from, as we believe it will make the sense and accepting of design thinking even better.?
The story goes like this … (my own version???)
It has been said that, business folks were discussing their worst nightmare. Which turn up to be the various problems they face in business (complex problems) and there no such way to tackle these problems. One of them said, designers are very good in solving the problems with their own tools and way of thinking,?why do not we borrow their tools and process to solve our business’s problems?
So, they said, “we need to think like a designer! right!”?
Yes, we do.
Then they said, just call it “Design Thinking” for simplicity.?
So, “Design Thinking” which short version of “Think like a designer” forces us to organize and articulate our way of thinking and acquire the mindset of the designer.?
You do not have to be a designer to think like the designer, with design thinking skills and principles (with actual practice) you will acquire this madness way of creativity and change the way of our thinking.???

2 年The main tenet of design thinking is?empathy for the people you're trying to design for. Leadership is exactly the same thing – building empathy for the people that you're entrusted to help.
