Tired of spending time on repetitive tasks that slow down your business? Automation is the key to unlocking efficiency and saving valuable hours. Whether you’re a local business owner or an agency looking to scale, creating your first automation is simpler than you think. In this step-by-step guide, I’ll walk you through everything you need to design and build your first automation, transforming those tedious tasks into seamless workflows.
Automation is all about identifying the tasks that take up the most time and streamlining them for maximum efficiency. But where do you start? The first step is to track how your team spends its time—look for patterns and recurring tasks that are ripe for automation. Once you know where the bottlenecks are, you can begin building workflows that not only save time but also increase accuracy and efficiency.
In this video, I walk you through the process of mapping out your automation workflow. Breaking down each step, no matter how small, gives you a clear understanding of what needs to be automated. From there, you can start building a fully functional automation using simple, accessible tools like Tally, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Zapier.
For example, we’ll be creating a custom proposal for a pest removal company. By using tools like Google Sheets as a source of truth for pricing, and Zapier to automate the proposal generation process, you’ll see firsthand how easy it is to build an automation that handles customer requests and generates personalized quotes.
What’s great about this approach is that it’s scalable. Once you master the basics, you can apply the same principles to automate a wide variety of tasks—whether it’s sending follow-up emails, managing data entry, or automating client onboarding. The key is to start small, automate the tasks that have the biggest impact, and then gradually expand your automations as your business grows.
Automation is no longer just for large businesses or tech experts—it’s a tool that every business can use to become more efficient, save time, and ultimately focus on growth. With the right approach and tools, you’ll be able to design workflows that work for you, not the other way around.
