Income protection insurers are well aware of the value of vocational rehabilitation for their policyholders, which helps employers to manage workplace sickness absence.
But how can the rehabilitation process deliver the best possible outcomes?
My article in the Cover Magazine, dated 15/03/2016, covers topics such as:
- Focusing on abilities, not limitations
- Disabling language
- Diagnosis VS function
- Setting rehabilitation outcomes

5 年A beautifully written article Katya Halsall. I really enjoyed it! May I add that having proactive discussions and engaging all relevant parties responsible for return to work and return to work managenent, from the outset, sows the seeds of expectation for return to work early. If return to work is to be end-goal of any rehabilitation programme, then we must ensure we begin with the end in mind. Of course having a plan and systematic methods, plus the knowledge and confidence to implement these, along with gaining full cooperation and engagement from all relevant partied; enables return to work. But, it's those skills that are so rare! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
