How to deliver HDR & SDR simultaneously in a single workflow
Do you remember your first thoughts when HDR production came along? Like many others in the industry, you may have feared we were going down the same route as 3-D — two production units at every venue. That was never going to fly.
This past summer was a big one for HDR production of live sporting events. To meet the challenges, I and other members of the Leader sales team worked with customers to deliver what’s called a “single stream HDR workflow.” You can hear the story in this 2-minute video:
“Single stream HDR” is where you see acquisition in 4K, UHD, wide color gamut, and HDR all the way through the production chain. Then, just before the broadcast leaves the production facility, it’s converted to HD SDR 709 because the majority of viewers are still watching in that format.
