How To Decide What You Want to (and Need to) Let Go

When you finally decide that you need some help and are ready to take action, how do you decide what fundraising tasks you want to and need to let go of?
Here's how! Take some time to reflect and make a list of the tasks you do. Separate them into categories based on four criteria:
1. The things you like to do but aren't good at (yet)
2. The things you like to do and are good at
3. The things you don't like to do, but are good at
4. The things you don't like to do and aren't good at
Notice that we start this experiment with YOU. Preserving your passion, energy and motivation is key to the success of your organization.
Now, using this graph, simply insert the tasks into one of the four spaces. Hold on for dear life to the things you are good at and like to do. This is your Genius Zone.
Prioritize delegating the things you don't like to do and aren't good at. These are tasks that will zap your energy and lead to burnout.
Consider delegating tasks from the other two categories. Now you know where to start!
Next step: Action. Make sure to follow this insight with action by either sharing it with your board or simply acting immediately to insert some help where you have identified it would help. If I can be that person for you, simply send me a DM and we'll start a dialogue.
