How to Decide if a Business Opportunity is Right for You

How to Decide if a Business Opportunity is Right for You

In a world where the internet connects us all, there are countless coaching programs, potential referral network and affiliate relationships, invitations to create or join an online business, and other opportunities available to you.

Some of them will move you toward the business and life of your dreams, while others are simply expensive, frustrating, and time-consuming distractions.

So which of these opportunities should you take, and which should you gracefully decline?

There is no “one size fits all” answer for that, but here are a couple steps you can take to determine which opportunities are right for you and your unique situation:

1. Know what your goal is and how you want to achieve it.

Who do you want to help through your business?

What do you want to help them do? In other words, what problems or challenges do you want to help them overcome, and what kind of results, experiences and life do you want to empower them to create?

How do you want to do that? Do you do your best work via group coaching calls? Pre-recorded curricula? One-on-one services? Live events?

What do you want to gain in return for this? How many dollars do you want to make per month, and how many hours do you want to spend working?

What other goals do you have for your business and life, in terms of the activities you’ll perform and the impact they’ll have on you, your clients, and the world as a whole?

2. See if the opportunity aligns with your goal.

Will the networking event have your target audience in it, or people who can help you connect with that audience? If not, it might not be a complete waste of time, but it probably isn’t the best use of your time.

If you’re thinking of buying a course, has the person teaching that course created or helped others create the kind of success you want, through strategies similar to the ones you want to use? If not, it’s better to find a mentor who HAS created the type of business, impact and life you desire.

Does the opportunity feel right, or is your gut giving you warning signals?

Do the strategies and practices you’re thinking of learning sound like something to which you’re willing to truly commit in the long run, or something you could delegate? Or will they just become “shelf help” that you never actually use?

The bottom line is: whenever you’re evaluating an opportunity, make sure that it aligns with your goals, the person offering it is credible, and the process of implementing it is something you will actually commit to and see through.

Do you want to meet more of your ideal clients, and to impact their lives in a bigger way?

I’ve devoted my career to connecting entrepreneurs with their ideal referral network members, managing referrals between them so that they actually send each other clients and get paid for the referrals they make, and helping them team up to offer better services, so they make a bigger impact on their clients’ lives.

If you want to learn more, please send me a direct message, and we’ll schedule a time to talk and see if this opportunity is right for you.
