HOW TO DEAL UNEMPLOYMENT

Hello Mates,

Let’s address the elephant in the room and talk about the topic which I think affected most of us at one point of time in our careers.

Unemployment hits you all around, it changes the life for you and it just makes you a negative person if you don’t treat this on time with some courage.

When I was planning to write my next blog, I got this flashback of my idle time I spent at home which further ended up in some bad situations around my family and relationship. You know it has its own consequences.

I think when you are facing that phase you slowly start knowing yourself better as most of the time you talk to yourself that are you doing right or wrong ? there is always one constant insecurity within you that would you be able to make a good career someday ? you are never sure what to do. You doubt yourself most of the time.

You hate studies and you always think for a shortcut or some magic that happens and changes everything for you. You are always irritated because of the expectations that comes along with living in a family with your parents.

These are just some common symptoms and they will just get worse the more time you will stay back.

So if you are facing all this in your present time, then following these point can really give you a sigh of relief and a perspective to deal it better.

START DOING SOMETHING.

It’s important to keep yourself occupied in some work those days so you can be more with positive thoughts, because when you sit idle negative thoughts comes into the place and lead you to a wrong direction.

When you are doing something, maybe a small part time job or just attending your subject classes regularly you are always moving and a sense of learning is there so eventually and sooner you find your way out.

MAKE LONG TERM & SHORT TERM GOALS.

Most of the time just after completing our education we have an intuitive idea of what we want to do further. Some feel like going for a business, some wants to join corporates some just want to try their luck in arts.

So based on your intuition fix a short term goal- where you want to be in 1 year or less, make a sketch of your plan and execute the short term plan without thinking much.

Then always keep a long term goal for yourself, where you see your growth in that field after 4-5 years. This will keep you motivated always to improve yourself to achieve more.

DO A JOB.

With my own experience I would suggest you to do a job in the field you want to go, at least for a year or two. If you want to go into HR start a job don’t look at the salary but look for the learning opportunity the organisation offer you, If you want to pursue business in a particular field first work in that field for a while until you don’t get a structural knowledge of that business, if you want to pursue art, work with some good people of that industry.

When you do that you not only gather knowledge but also you get a perspective of how you can take yourself forward in that area and what skill set is needed to reach your short term & long term goal.

DEVELOP RIGHT SKILL SET.

I often stress on this because India has most number of graduates, still we have so much unemployment it is only because of not having right skill set. Nobody would invest in you to give you a skill set, only you have to invest in yourself first so you can get what you want.

Some of the skills which I think one should possess in order to be successful in any field are:

  • Command over English Language for obvious reasons.
  • Groomed personality in terms of looking presentable.
  • Open and friendly attitude- helps you to convince people.

If you could master these three in you you would eventually be successful I believe.

Thanks for your patience reading, Hope it would be helpful to design your career.
