How To Deal With Mental Health Struggles As An Entrepreneur

We all know that the life of an entrepreneur isn’t easy; you are thinking about your business one way or another 24/7, leading to your brain never being turned off. Ultimately you reach a point where you feel burnt out, depressed, uninspired, or just overwhelmed. Yet you don’t want to shut down your business, I mean - that’s your baby! Your pride and joy. You just need to make some adjustments in your life, so that when these situations happen, you know what to do. And I know that you definitely can get through those tough times; check out my four tips for entrepreneurs dealing with mental health struggles:

1 - Give yourself just as much love as you give out.

Self care and self love are more than retail therapy and skincare. Though pampering yourself and treating yourself to that super cute skirt can provide a boost of endorphins, you need to give yourself something long-lasting. Self care can be as little as turning off notifications, putting up boundaries, or saying “no.” Self love can just be you finding time to work out or cook a more healthy meal. As you take care of your business, family, and other aspects of your life, remember that you are a priority as well. Don’t depend on others to give back the love you give them; you need to invest in yourself. Believe that you are valuable!

2 - Find a community that supports you.

Place yourself in positive environments and get around like-minded individuals who are about supporting and celebrating one another. When it comes to mental health, a lot of times we assume that people around us don’t experience the same because they have never spoken up about their struggles. Take the leap in being open and vulnerable, and you’ll be surprised at how many other entrepreneurs are in the same boat as you are! Talking with others, whether they be friends, therapists/coaches, or even acquaintances, can make all the difference with your mental health instead of keeping those feelings locked up inside. Don’t let your feelings grow over time; be sure to address them when they’re small!

3 - Take baby steps and do something each day.

When it comes to trying to rise up from burnout, it can feel exhausting to do anything when you’re just not in the mood. But let me tell you: you have to take that first step. Try doing a single task a day that aligns with your business’s goals. Spur up ideas, research, create content, connect with your future and current clients on social media - the possibilities are endless! Take the leap in getting one task finished and the rest will follow as the days go by. This is also the perfect chance to discover what tasks you just despise doing, which leads me to my final point.

4 - Don’t do it all alone.

Many entrepreneurs tend to have a bit of a perfectionist quality, leading them to do several tasks themselves, even when they just don’t have the time or patience to do them. Instead of waiting until your mental breaking point, get help now and delegate. Assistants, employees, and interns are the true backbone to any business - they are there for you as you heal while you build your brand.?

Mental health struggles don’t wait for the day and time you can handle them; they pop up when they pop up. That doesn’t mean that you should let them keep you and your business down; you can rise up again! I hope that with my four tips, you and your business can have a successful year with little to no stress. For us entrepreneurs, we’re all in this together!
