How To Deal With "Haters" In Business

Did you know that there are lots of haters on the internet?
Yes, that is right. About 95% of the people who use the internet are all haters.
Here's concrete proof. People in different places have said bad things about Mother Teresa, the most beloved and most kind person in history!
So what hope can the internet bring us and our health industry?
Here’s a fun fact — unless you are invisible to all and have no opinion on anything, people are going to say bad things about you.
Seriously, no matter what you do some people will always say bad things.
Let me tell you a story which happened last week. My team and I published an advertisement that upset a few people. And the number of people who are furious at me was fascinating. Even calling me all sorts of names and insults.
I’m glad it wasn't the same day as an old school friend took his own life, because what they were saying to me was far from nice.
But it reminded me of an important marketing lesson:
Visibility + Credibility = Profitability.
You first have to be visible in the health industry so you can build credibility and authority where people will know who you are, what you do and what your business offers. And that's the only time you can get real profitability.
If the majority of your clients aren’t giving you referrals, then you only gain credibility and not profitability. In business, you may have a lot of visibility and credibility, but NOT profitability.
Profitability may happen quickly, or it may take many months - most likely, somewhere in between. It depends on the frequency and quality of the contacts, and especially on the desire of both parties to move the relationship forward.
The haters? Let them hate. As they say... you’ll never meet a hater doing better than you. I’ve found that to be true but only 100% of the time. ??
As soon as you start promoting your health products and services, you will attract criticism, and that is NORMAL.
But if the alternative means having no criticism... but instead having a small business with less impact? I’ll take the crazy haters every day of the week.
Here’s how to deal with them:
Prove to them that they're wrong.
You need to make sure that the quality of your products and services are beyond expectations.
Sometimes mistakes happen and it's natural. If that’s the case, fix them immediately and make it right. In fact, go above and beyond. WOW them and most of the time you’ll get a loyal fan as a result.
However, if the haters aren’t right - if they’re just hating on you for no reason - ignore them! It’s not going to help you or your clients if you focus on them.
Don't let the haters ruin your day or allow your health business to slow down. Often it’s only because they are only tasting their own success by trying to take a bite out of you.
Learn to use the criticism as fuel and you will never run out of energy.
