How Dangerous Will Our Future Be With Nanotechnology

The term “nano” has been floated around for quite some time now. The word itself has always been associated with sophistication. Considering that numerous aspects of our lives have been driven by technology, the nano approach introduces us to a more advanced method of technical development.

Nano talk

So, what exactly is nanotechnology? How did it come into fruition?

When engaging in the nano subject, the initial perspective is its size. While we’ve always been fascinated by the processes involving atomic activities, we will be further astounded by the sheer outlook on this innovative technological platform.

One nanometer is a billionth of a meter. To get a closer look, the scale makes the nano smaller than a width of a human hair, and a wavelength of a visible light. From that standpoint, it is definitely amazing to tap into a technology which is diminutive enough even to most microscopic equipment.

Considering that the road to the future brings will only make technological devices smaller and smaller, it is sensible enough to delve into the nano world. Imagine how smartphones, tablets and laptop computers become so efficient with a miniscule drop of integrated circuits running the gadgets.

Uncharted terrain

It is an exciting world to be in except for the unexplored parts of the nanoparticles. While we cannot deny the fact that nanotechnology brings a whole lot of advancements into our lives, there are also people who are skeptical about the safety of its properties.

With the proliferation of nanotech products and services, it is likely that this scientific field will be facing inevitable questions on numerous fronts. Amid its probable and extensive usefulness, it is also necessary for everyone to be aware of its true nature.

Invasive tool

Primarily, nanoparticles can be intrusive to our privacy. Judging from the fact that it is being utilized in microchips, it highly likely that the sub-dermal applications will also integrate this miniscule substance into our bodies.

In Sweden, for instance, microchip implants are being inserted into the hands of some people. The material contains information which can tapped to gain access to houses, offices, gyms and other related abodes. With the chip being exposed everywhere, a security breach is waiting to happen anytime.

Unchecked domain

Secondly, nanotechnology as a new frontier has countless queries that venture into the unknown. What the scientific experts believe and see largely today is the adaptive mechanism of the nanoparticle as attributed to its atomic size.

Because its properties are special enough to adjust to substances which nanoparticles are assimilated with, this elemental change is quite desirable among scientists and technological firms. Being a new field, however, puts nanotechnology in a gray area where long-term effects of its processes are yet to be substantiated. Considering that it is also unregulated makes the platform very much dangerous.
