T-Mobile For Business announces a major advance in the way fans experience the PGA Championship with its revolutionary 5G solutions. This week, May 15–19, Valhalla Golf Club turns into a testing ground for new live broadcasts on the site.
PGA of America is be the first American golf organization to have a 5G private network, and the first in the history of American golf, powered by T-Mobile’s 5G Advanced Network Solutions.
Enhancements in operational efficiencies will definitely be seen through this innovation, leading to a great viewing experience for fans all over the world. T-Mobile will tap into the country’s best 5G network, with leading-edge capabilities, including network slicing, to set new standards across all event experiences.
This will be the first live golf coverage with 5G integrated this year. Now, CBS Sports is going to use a 5G-connected camera to bring new angles of the iconic Hole 13.
The footage, shot with cinematic quality, includes hero shots of favorite players to bring fans closer to the action.
You’ll be able to watch new pre-championship coverage live on PGA digital and social channels. And only on T-Mobile’s 5G private network, through POV cameras— from here practice sessions offer closer views.
Insights and analysis from the expert commentators and PGA coaches will be complemented with in-depth stats on ball speed, apex, curve, and distance to make the fan experience rich.
On-site spectators visiting Valhalla can join the live Q&A at Club Magenta with T-Mobile athletes Tony Finau, Wyndham Clark, and Max Homa, all presented at a VIP lounge with the best views and free phone charging.
T-Mobile customers receive perks including free gear, Magenta-themed cocktails, and access to the Fast Lane.

“Sports organizations typically come to T-Mobile to see if 5G can help them enhance operations, the fan experience, or the event broadcast, and we’re delivering all of the above and more at the PGA Championship,” said Callie Field , President, T-Mobile For Business Group.
“5G firsts are always exciting, but it’s so rewarding to see how our T-Mobile for Business solutions are making a tangible difference — from making it easier for producers to capture and create amazing new broadcast moments to helping fans experience even more action.”
Behind the Scenes of 5G
Operating a live broadcast at the PGA Championship has its challenges, though not unlike any other live event: crowd sizes, traffic patterns, and, of course, the course layout. All of this is made significantly easier by the following T-Mobile 5G technology:
? Streamlined Operations: Fewer wiring and cabling, thus it is quickly set up and removed, thereby saving a lot of costs. The portable private network also eases deployment without massive installation efforts.

? Fiber-like Data Transmission: T-Mobile’s 5G private network, coupled with Sony’s technology, will support 4K resolution wireless cameras which enable ultra-low latency, thus bringing new creative perspectives around the court.
? Network Slicing: This allows certain channels to be dedicated within the wider 5G network to ensure that crucial operations such as concession payments and ticketing are performed optimally, thus guaranteeing the desired customer experience.
“We’re excited to bring game-changing technology to one of golf’s most important events through our partnership with T-Mobile,” said Jeff Price, chief commercial officer of the PGA of America. “T-Mobile has set the stage for pioneering innovation that will only further excite our fans. And this is just the beginning."
T-Mobile’s deployment at the PGA Championship showcases the promise of change possible through the technology—not just for operational efficiencies but for fan experiences. Through 5G innovation by T-Mobile, fans can keep looking forward to more exciting sports broadcasts.
