Today, we're diving into a topic that transcends the world we've been talking about; the world of YouTube optimization and monetization. Today is about leaving your indelible mark on YouTube, not for the masses, but for the select few who matter most—your family, your people, your legacy. Buckle up; this is going to be a wonderful opportunity for you to learn about as you leave your personal and private legacy through video storytelling.

YouTube has 3 visibility settings for videos. Private, Unlisted, and Public. Today we are going to be discussing leaving your legacy on YouTube. Not for public entertainment or educational purposes, but to house the most important messages that you'd like your loved ones to have. And for those, you will want to keep them unlisted or private - depending on the video.

Let's get started with the foundational steps to take.

?? Designate Your Legacy Channel: Consider creating a dedicated YouTube channel for your legacy. It could bear a name like "Smith Family Chronicles" or "Jane's Time Capsule." Make it sacred, and ensure it's a place you regularly update.

?? Zooming into Memories: A free Zoom account can be your secret weapon. Record your stories, thoughts, and messages here. You can edit them or just upload them to YouTube. Some need to download it to their desktop then upload it to YouTube. Keep your videos short, around 5-10 minutes tops, for easy viewing. Sorting will be easier when you keep them in topics, playlists, or in another organizational fashion that serves you.

?? Privacy Matters: I would like to repeat that when using YouTube for your legacy, label the videos correctly and set them as "unlisted." This way, only those with the link can access your precious memories and information.

?? The Power of Playlists: When organizing your videos into playlists, group them by life stages, achievements, romances, or whatever themes resonate with you. This helps viewers find what they're interested in quickly.

Now, here's where it gets exciting. You get to decide what these videos will reveal. The secrets, the stories, the truths:

?? Unveiling the Past: Share your childhood mementos, life as a parent, or even your dating years. Let the future generations see glimpses of your life's rich tapestry. Can you imagine having videos of your great-grandparents sharing their moments with you long after they are gone? Well, now you can do this for those in your life now and those you may never meet.

?? Family Stories and Ancestors: Dive into your family history, share anecdotes about your ancestors, and pass on invaluable knowledge to generations yet to come. Beyond reading a memoir, your family will love to see you telling your treasured stories as they soak up every drop of your passion and emotion.

?? Sharing Secrets: Don't be afraid to spill some tea! Share personal stories, experiences, and secrets—things that only your legacy channel viewers will have access to.

Your legacy is not just for memories, it can be the vault that houses your most important data in the event of an emergency.

?? Important Numbers and Passwords: Ensure your trusted ones have access to essential information, like account numbers, passwords, and contacts, in case the unexpected happens.

?? Who Gets What: Have you ever lost someone only to have the family fighting with each other over 'things' instead of being able to grieve their loss? Here's your chance to do it differently. Make it crystal clear who should inherit your precious belongings. Create videos detailing who gets what, making the division smoother and more heartfelt.

?? Remember the Unseen: Don't forget to include assets that aren't physically present, such as land, investments, or hidden gems.

Now, here's where you can get really creative:

?? Keep It Updated: Regularly review and update your legacy videos. Life changes and your legacy should evolve with it.

Don't forget to share all that's important to you.

?? Leave Your Mark on the World: Consider creating a video about your life's highlights, loves, and favorite moments. It's like a personal message to those in your private world.

?? Acknowledge Loved Ones: Do you ever wish you could tell others what they mean to you? Here's an idea. Record acknowledgment videos for your loved ones. Send them on special occasions or save them for future remembrances.

Lastly, remember to entrust someone with the keys to your legacy. But always have a backup plan. You don't want your hard work to go to waste! choose those you trust to manage your Video Vaults and provide the link and the directions on who to share those links with and when.
