For instance, I frequently transform my YouTube transcripts into LinkedIn newsletters. Without a custom GPT, this task would require repeated prompts, which is time-consuming.

By creating a custom GPT, I can streamline this process, achieving consistent results with minimal effort.

Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Your Custom GPT

Step 1: Set Up Your Account

First, ensure you have a ChatGPT Plus account. The Plus version, which costs $20 per month, is necessary for creating custom GPTs. If you don’t have it yet, sign up at chatgpt.com.

Step 2: Identify Your Needs

Think about the repetitive tasks in your business. These could range from content creation to operational processes. For this tutorial, we’ll create a GPT that converts YouTube transcripts into LinkedIn articles. However, your GPT could be tailored for various tasks, such as generating YouTube video titles, writing emails for difficult conversations, or critiquing proposals.

Step 3: Create Your GPT

1. Access GPT Creation: Go to your ChatGPT dashboard, click on your profile icon, and select "My GPTs."
2. Start Building: Click "Create a GPT." Name it something descriptive yet generic enough to avoid trademark issues. For instance, "YT Video to LI Article" works better than "LinkedIn Article Converter."
3. Profile Picture: Create a profile picture for your GPT. This step is optional but can help personalize your GPT.
4. Define Behavior: Specify what your GPT should emphasize or avoid. Provide it with examples and detailed instructions to ensure it understands your requirements.

Step 4: Provide Training Data

Your GPT will need training data to learn from. What that training data is, will depend on it's purpose. If you don't know what data provide your GPT with to train it, you can ask it.

Step 5: Test and Refine

Testing is crucial. Refine the instructions based on the output until it aligns with your expectations.

Step 6: Final Adjustments and Sharing

Once satisfied, you can make your GPT public or share it with specific people via a link. Remember to upload additional articles to enhance its learning and improve future outputs.
