How To Create A Winning Product Listing On Amazon

2.64 billion people were online shoppers in 2024, and it is expected to be 2.77 billion in 2025. This makes up 33% of the world’s population.

Amazon.com is the most visited site, with more than 3000 million traffic per month. So, if you intend to make sales in this market, creating a winning product listing is the first and the most crucial step.

What is Amazon Product Listing?

Amazon product listing is the page where shoppers visit and purchase your product. It includes details about the product, such as title, description, images, brand, product category, reviews, and customer questions.

Step-by-step Guide on How to Create Winning Product Listing

Setting up a product listing on Amazon is detailed but not difficult at all. In this blog post, you’ll get the steps you need to follow to create your new product listing.

Keyword research:

Relevant keyword research is crucial to ranking higher on Amazon's algorithm. You’ll need an extensive keyword list to add to the product description, bullets, keyword tab, and other details, as we explain in this blog.?

Think from the buyer’s perspective of what they need. Additionally use specialized tools like reverse ASIN, SellerApp, or Ahrefs. The key Tip is to look for both high and low-volume keywords.?

Login and Add Product:

Login to your Amazon Seller Central” account. Go to the inventory tab and select the ‘Add product’ option. Here you can either list new products or search for products that are already on Amazon.

Select Product Category:

Once you’ve clicked on “create a new product listing”, select the category and subcategory of your product. You can either use a search engine or browse through the list for category selection.

Product information:

Now you’ll be moved to the page with 7 Tabs that you have to fill individually. Let’s go through them one by one.

Tab# 01- Vital Info

Here firstly add a compelling Product Title that includes your keywords and product features and benefits. Keep your title under 250 characters and make it smooth by rearranging keywords.

Next, fill following sections:

  • Product ID: a unique code for every product- provided by the manufacturer.
  • Manufacturer and Brand name: If you are selling your privately-produced item then use your company/brand name. Otherwise, use the respective manufacturer name and brand.
  • Other information: Enter product color, weight, shape, length and width, and available sizes (small/medium/large).

Tab# 02- Variations

Add categories of variations in which you sell your product. Variation can be in color, shape, size, width, or length. Once you’ve selected variation categories fill in their respective details. Go in-depth to add all variations you offer, this will help in Amazon's Algorithm analysis of your product better.

Tab# 03- Offer

It includes details about the release date, warranty, gift wrap option, if some individual especially signs your product, and product condition (new or used). Select whether you want an Amazon (FBA) fulfillment channel or do it yourself. Enter the quantity of product you have to offer.

Now comes the price, the most important factor. Amazon has minimal control over it. Your optimal price should include all the expenses related to the product’s manufacturing, storage, and shipping plus your profit margin.?

Tab# 04- Images

Images for your product listing are extremely important. You have 0.05 seconds to impress a visitor so pay attention to displaying your product in the best way. Here are some tips to help you through it:?

  • Show product in the best light
  • Add images from different angles
  • Use white background
  • Product should take 85% of the provided space
  • Image should be of optimal quality-at least 500x500 pixel
  • Be consistent with the brand’s look
  • Show product in use

Tab# 05- (A) Product Description

Another important way to sell your product more effectively. You have a 2000-character limit to talk about the features of your product not found elsewhere. This will help customers evaluate and purchase your product. Here are some tips for writing a winning description:

  • Use keyword-rich sentences
  • Add brand name
  • Add color, size, material details, and target population details (ex: for men/kids)
  • Don’t just talk about features but add benefits of every feature to the customers

(B) Bullet Points

This includes key product features that appear along the images. Keep following tips in mind while giving bullet points:

  • Again fill the space with keywords but the flow should be logical
  • Keep them short and accurate
  • Keep points of almost same length
  • Describe at least 5 key features

Tab# 06- Keywords

Well, customers will not see the information you put in here but Amazon will use the provided keywords whenever customers search for your product or relevant product. Have some tips to make the best use of this tab:

  • Use the top keywords of your research
  • Add at least 6 keywords
  • No need to repeat keywords if you have used them in the title or description
  • Include synonyms, abbreviations, or alternate names for your product
  • Avoid using too many punctuation marks
  • Name the target audience

Now that you are done with it simply write about the product’s subject, intended use, other attributes, and target audience.

This might seem like too much hassle but do not skip through it. Remember, Amazon uses all this information to rank your product on customer search.

Tab# 07- More Details

This is customized for every product. This is the longest tab but be patient. Simply go through the extra details being asked relevant to your product.

Save and Launch:

Once you are done click the ‘Save and Launch’ option at the bottom to complete your listing. If it's not proceeding, the site will direct you to the missed part you are required to fill.

  • Launch the most-wanted products in your niche
  • A+ Content: Sellers can use A+ content option from Seller Account>menu>advertisement>A+ content manager. It is proven to increase sales up to 10-30% by adding more graphics, videos, charts, FAQs, and other media
  • Reviews provide the social proof that both buyers and Amazon algorithms use. You can use Amazon’s ‘Request a Review Button’ or ‘Vine program’ to collect reviews from trusted users.
  • Use Amazon’s Ads: They can boost your chances of ranking for specific keywords, even if your product has yet to collect enough reviews or sales to stand on its own. Amazon offers automated and manual Ad campaign options for you to choose.
