In order to create a long-lasting mentor/mentee relationship, it needs to be a win-win relationship. This is why I always challenge students to think of a way to provide value to their mentor.
One of the students that I’ve been mentoring for the past six months is Luis Guzman. Luis noticed that one of my Q3 goals was health and fitness related. This is an area of Luis’ life that he excels at and is very passionate about.
Luis reached out to me and asked me more questions about my health and fitness goals and he offered to help me.
Long story short, Luis has become an accountability partner and he even drives 45 minutes once a week to work out with me. This creates an amazing win-win relationship.
We even made a bet. If I don’t reach my body fat percentage goal I have to pay Luis’ gym membership for one year and if Luis doesn’t have a job offer from one of his dream companies he has to pay my gym membership for a year.
The good news is that if we both reach our goals (which is what will most likely happen) no one pays anybody anything and we celebrate!
I challenge you to find a mentor and think of ways to make it a win-win relationship!

5 年The best mentors are probably people who have an eye toward improving themselves as well as helping others. So as Daniel?discusses, don't forget that you probably have something to offer your mentor. I learn a great deal from people that probably consider me their mentor and I am grateful for that.
