How to Create an About Us Page That is Memorable

How to Create an About Us Page That is Memorable

Hi! My name is _____.

Introductions are the essential beginnings of any conversation, because there is no way that you can go forward with the rest of your message before the person you are talking to knows who you are and what you are about.

This is just as crucial for businesses with their own websites. One of the most important pages in a company website is the About Us page. This is where Web users will click straight to so they can find out more about the company — what it is, what it does, who it means to cater to, why and how it started, and what it can offer the consumer (among others).

So you need to build an epic About Us page so that you can make a good impression on people and help them understand your presence in the industry

.

What can you do to ensure that your About Us page rocks? Here are key things to implement:

Tell a story. Consumers will want to know whether a company that they are considering to buy products or services from is legitimate, established, popular, well-loved, highly recommended, and so on. They need assurance that they will be entrusting their needs to a company that delivers high quality, every time. If they visit your site and discover that you took time to build an About Us page that shares what your brand is about, then you are driving them closer to becoming more than just visitors to your page.

So tell them your company's truths — your roots, your purpose, your goal, your offerings, your achievements. Write it in a conversational tone that will engage readers of all ages and backgrounds. Use simple and clear terms. Tell them why you are the logical choice, on top of your competition.

Focus on your audiences' needs. Web users came to your website to find out one thing: whether you can deliver a product or service that can improve their lives by providing a solution to a need. So you have to set up your About Us page to explain or demonstrate to your visitors how your offerings can transform their situation into the desired result.

Use the appropriate media. Your About Us page doesn't have to be filled top to bottom with thick chunks of text. Explore different ways of delivering your message — perhaps a short, easy-to-load video of the business owner explaining the company's mission would get the message through to audiences faster. A set of photos, illustrations or infographics might provide a better visual representation of what you can do.

Make sure that any media content you add to the page reinforces and completes your textual content so visitors are sure to understand your message.

Maintain the tone and image of your brand. While you can exercise freedom and creativity in this page so that you can successfully engage your audience, keep in mind that it is still intended to promote your business and what it can do. So keep the branding consistent. Make sure that it contains the right branding elements — the company logo, the colours and fonts it uses, the established slogans, and all other features that consumers will automatically associate with your company.

Include testimonials. Gather the most constructive and fitting accounts of your company's excellent products and services from the mouths of your customers themselves. Consumers will be more assured that they are getting their money's worth if they choose to trust a brand that other people can vouch for.

Clearly state your service area and contact info. Of course, the About Us page wouldn't be named so if it weren't able to provide Web visitors with your essential contact details. Even if you have a dedicated Contact Us page for that, including your address, phone, email, social media buttons and others gives your audience easy access to your information right there, and will make it easier for them to remember where and how to find you.
