How to create Toxic work environment

A recent article in Reddit claims that companies are resorting to micro managing employees and giving instances that will lead to acrimonious debate.

The following 5 things are given as time wasters and employees are warned against wastage of work time.

1. Use the restroom before you start work and before coming back from meals.

2. make sure to take off your court jacket or other outer ware pieces before punching in

3. make sure to secure personal items in a locker before punching in.

4. Arrive early to ensure you have the time to complete any shopping or other task before your schedule start time.

5. Once punched in you are on the clock and should immediately grab your equipment and head to the floor.

Time Clock Fraud

if employee commit 10 minutes of time clock from a day -

that is 100 minutes a day

that is 3000 minutes a month with equals to 50 hours of payroll last.

Can HR department create and enforce these rules at work place ?

Will this impact employee productivity and morale ?

What do you think ??

My views are that these kind of rules will make the work place more toxic leading to employee dissatisfaction finally resulting in attrition of best talent.

Yes , i agree. It will lead to a toxic environment rather than a better place to work for. Also, the good talent will never want to be in this kind of environment therefore retention of employees and NPS will decrease resulting in minimising of business growth.

I believe this is due to lack of Leadership to bring Integrity, Accountability and Collaboration. 1. If employees are doing certain things purposefully that means it’s a pure lack of communication and collaboration 2. If time so crucial and organization seek every minutes efforts from Employees meaning either they are not staffed enough or right skill in place 3. I wonder if you start going deep micromanage then employees may stick to time and hesitate to be flexible ( extending work day , working on weekends for deliverable or be available for priority task) meaning a huge loss when you really need them. 4. Very soon either the employees will quite or the organization have bad name in market and loose client 5. Lack of empathy and emotional bond will stop the innovation and improvement 6. I think we are no more in the age of colonial era, it’s time to be flexible and respectful.
