I've done some reviews of profiles lately, and I thought it might be helpful to get this out on this edition.
First things first: What is your About Section?
Your About section is the section on your LinkedIn page where you dive in deeper to explain to your viewer more about you, your work experiences, achievements, and skills.
It's a meaty section that should be utilized effectively and strategically.
Okay, let's keep this simple because we all have things to do, right?
Let's jump in on how to make it STUN!
1. Use close to, if not all, of the 2,600 characters.
LinkedIn gives you 2,600 characters (more than any other section) to stun your viewers. This should be resume-like, but MORE fun.
Here are some questions to ask while writing out your About section that you should include:
How long have I been doing this business?
Example: I've been creating stellar resumes for the past 5+ years, and I can't imagine myself doing anything else!
What did I do before?
Example: I taught in public school for 15+ years, but was shocked when I realized I had created a framework that could help individuals grow their email list 10x their current list in less than a year.
What drew me to start this brand?
Example: My passion for selling real estate was transformed into helping others build financial wealth by creating properties that sell for 6-7 figures.
See where I'm going? These are headlines that are all telling a story.
SUPER important!
2. Use whitespace.
I can't tell you how many profiles I've seen like this:
Since I was a little girl, I have always enjoyed making others happy! That might've been through a gift, a drawing, or a card. Doing for others is truly my thing. It's no wonder I worked in Human Services for 10 years. But being a mom was pulling me to be more present with my family. Being an entrepreneur in social media has helped me serve both passions. After building my brand specifically on LinkedIn since 2020, I am reminded every day how much I love this platform, and I want to build that passion for others - another gift I give, so to speak! Organization skills, Microsoft Skills, 10 years of management...
I stopped reading by sentence 1! (By the way, this is my section all jumbled together.)
Remember to break up your sentences to look like this:
Easily scannable for your viewers! (This is mine with white space.)

3. Finish with a call to action.
If you've kept your readers engaged enough until the end with your story, you should leave a call to action at the end.
This can be a link to a Discover Call, a link to your email list, a free e-book, a subscription to your LinkedIn newsletter, etc.
Don't forget this!
Extra Tips: Add testimonials, and sprinkle in some emojis, if that's how you roll!
Alright, there you have it! Now, go ahead and make your About Section STUN!
It's all about YOU, after all.
XOXO,
Sharonda
