How to Create a Personalized LinkedIn URL within 15 Seconds

It’s always a good idea to include your LinkedIn URL on your resume, but before you do so, make certain that you don’t use the long, alpha-numeric URL you were given when you first signed up with LinkedIn – as it is rather messy and distracting. Instead, use the free and simple “Edit Your Custom URL” tool that LinkedIn provides. Doing so not only?shows that you’re detailed-oriented and tech-savvy, but it also?makes your URL shorter and aesthetically more pleasing to the eye.

STEP 1

Log into your LinkedIn account and go to your personal profile page.

On the right-hand side of your banner photo (you may need to expand your view to see this), click Edit your public profile & URL.

STEP 3

This will open a new window called Public Profile Settings. On the right-hand side of this page, you will see a section called Edit your custom URL. Under this section header, you will find your current URL next to an icon that looks like a pencil. Click on the pencil to edit your URL. Now it's time to choose your URL name. We recommend using your name, as it appears on your resume. Note: You can change your URL five times within every 180-day period – so, if you change your mind, you can always create a new one.

Make sure to hit save - and you’re done!
