How to Create a Personal #Hashtag

Hashtags have become a powerful means to mark your social media content no matter the platform. They support quick searches to locate your content when people want to find more of your posts.
Here are six things to consider in creating your personal #Hashtag
1) Make your Brand Story, phrase, tagline, or hashtag simple to remember
2) Make your customer the hero in your Brand Story, phrase, tagline, or hashtag
3) Address the customer's need in your Brand Story, phrase, tagline, or hashtag
4) Create an emotional impact with your Brand Story, phrase, tagline, or hashtag
5) Check to see if your Brand Story, phrase, tagline, or hashtag has already been used
Use search tools to determine if your Brand Story, phrase, tagline, or hashtag has been used by someone else. When I first started posting, someone dubbed me #SteveTV. I adopted it as my personal brand hashtag. When I later searched for my past content, I found #SteveTV was used by Steve Harvey with posts like Come on my show - who's your daddy? Great, the last thing I wanted is people associating my brand with deadbeat fathers. I quickly changed it to #Stevisms for my unique way of looking at the world.
6) Test your Brand Story, phrase, tagline, or hashtag for feedback
Trial your Brand Story, phrase, tagline, or hashtag with associates and customers to get their feedback. How is it received by them? Is their response to it what you wanted? If you test a few, why do they like one over another? This feedback is valuable to determine if your Brand Story is accomplishing your intended goals.
