How to create an oasis for students in times of turmoil ? Colours, Wood and a Hard Punch!

?We are creators believing in the power of a well-designed space. With comprisal of lights, colours and materials, a skillfully constructed interior can provoke all kinds of human emotions and behaviours. A wide, white hall lit by natural light can draw a sense of serenity, while a colourful room excites one with curiosity and warmth. Seeing the influence environment has on its users, we aspire to understand the needs of our clients and empower them through our vision and expertise.

?#Education is one of the fields that can be significantly benefited from #schooldesign. During this period of uncertainty, we see the urge of re-imagining the norm of #learningspace and the possibilities from #classroomtransformations as ways to respond to the challenges that students are experiencing today.

?We are thrilled to share with you the Student Activity Centre Project at YKY School, working closely with the School and the Education Bureau. Our goal is to create an environment that helps to relieve stress that students may induce from current affairs and competitive learning. Covering the #designandbuild with the usage of the Centre, we envision it as both a welcoming student hub, as well as a safe oasis in campus. To realise this idea, our team established the design concept around elements that sparked inspiration for the young demographics. We incorporated a vibrant colour palette with carefully considered wooden furniture, balancing stimulates for creativity, open conversations and a calming atmosphere. Flexible furniture were also chosen to optimise the potential of space and function.

?Our design of making the Centre an oasis for students also encompasses specific areas catered for their mental wellbeing. These include a counselling room and a ‘PUNCH’ room (where students are allowed to punch for emotional outlet). The "PUNCH" room is equipped with padded walls and floor and fun bean bags aiming to create an emotional destress area for students. Centre staff can handle tasks in meeting room and working area, together with 2 small meeting rooms for other occasions.

?In the unprecedented times, not only are we proud to deliver this project on time and within the tight budget, we are also flattered to showcase this "Home for Care and Share" that is evolving into a hot spot for young minds to gather, interact and have fun!
