WHAT IS ‘YES, AND’ ATTITUDE?
‘Yes, and…’ is a rule in improvisational theatre that facilitates the forward movement of an Improv scene.?One improv actor suggests a reality or idea and is rewarded with a ‘Yes’ - an acceptance of this reality or idea.? And then comes the 'And' - an expansion on this reality or idea by adding new information.? This technique allows Improv actors to co-create stories together that are unique and innovative.? Consider the 'Yes, And' rule as a verb - as in? ‘Yes-anding’.
When 'Yes-anding' is used in businesses, communities, and working teams it creates a powerful platform that improves the effectiveness of the brainstorming process, fosters effective communication, and encourages the free sharing of ideas.?
Because there is no right or wrong answer, 'Yes-anding' creates a safe, constructive space.
THE INNER WORKINGS OF “YES, AND…”
“Yes-Anding” it’s all about movement. It’s about bringing people together and building together with each one’s brick. Is about accepting everyone’s share and adding to it.?
Be careful with the “Yes, But…”, Neurolingusting Programming experts will agree that everything you say before a “But” it’s a lie. So, “Yes, But” is just a nice way of saying “I don’t agree with you, or hear what I have to say”.
What are you more inclined towards Yes or No??
Don’t take it wrong: Saying “Yes, And…” is not about having issues with setting boundaries. It’s about acknowledging the other person and co-building together to find that sweet spot that creates a win-win for everyone.?

HOW T EMBRACE THE POWER OF ‘YES-ANDING’? IN YOUR OWN LIFE
What would the impact be of? “Yes-Anding” yourself?? What if you accepted that every idea of your own was worth a Yes! AND was worth building on with an And?? It’s a process where you suspend self-judgment and you listen actively to yourself.
Saying Yes is seeing new possibilities whereas Saying No is staying in your comfort zone.
‘Yes, And…’ is a gift that invites you to step outside of your left brain’s logic and connect to your right brain’s creativity and intuition. It’s about letting things flow.
Say “Yes” to be rewarded by adventure or say “No” and be rewarded by safety.?
Your “Yes” was reading this article, what is going to be your “And”?

2 天前Montse Lorente Michelle Clarke- this is such a great and relevant article! I recently (re)tried this technique to kickstart my day and approach...to everything! A friend suggested I try the YES, AND... approach, so I did. Interestingly, I learned this in high school drama class, but have not practiced it for ages. I found your article in a google search as I was curious who else might be trying the same approach. Thanks for sharing your insights and expertise.
