Creating a mood board is the first step to creating concepts of space!
Should your space be modern or sleek or colourful or vibrant, this how you conceptualise your space using mood boards.
What is a mood board?
It’s an arrangement of colours, themes, fabrics, furniture, decor and lighting used at the concept stage of a project.
What do you need to create a mood board?
First, you need to ask your clients about the look and feel they want out of their space.
Then, you need to understand their requirements, use your skills and bridge the gap.
Next, you need a handful of good resolution images that go with the concepts in your head and put them together digitally.
How do you create a mood board?
I am glad this question popped in your head since mood board is not just about arranging a few pictures to make it look good, it’s a process of conceptualising to make your client’s space look good!
Here’s how you can go ahead:
1. To start with, brainstorm four-five different colour options that would ideally go with the look and feel. Choose the colours wisely as each colour will have its own impact on your space.
2. Research on furniture designs that your client would love to have along with fabric options to go with the volume of space and the colours you have chosen.
3. Look out for a couple of lighting options for two categories: Bold lighting and soft lighting.
4. Choose the decor elements according to the furniture designs. Decor items play an important role in filling the voids in your space.
5. Design options for walls and ceiling – Here, you need to look out for options to emphasise on a particular wall, options for false ceiling, wallpapers and other materials you want to use.
Once you have collected all the graphics, it’s time to put them together digitally. To create a mood board that appeals to your client in the very first look, you need to ensure that all the visuals you have used look coordinated even if you have to create different options.
